Keeping your password secure

Your password is like a combination number for a vault. If you give someone the combination, or they guess what it is, then that person can go and take things from the vault, change things in it, or destroy the contents. Even more importantly, your password and username are unique to you personally, so the evidence of these changes will all point directly at you.

Here are some tips to help you keep your password secure:
  • Use a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters
  • Change your password on a regular basis
  • Never give anyone your password. If they need access, then get your administrator to create an account for them

We heavily recommend strong passwords. If you choose to include special characters in your password (such as ^ or ~ or ©) then make sure you know how to type them on all the computers you will be using for ITM. For example, the © symbol will have a different key combination on a Mac OS computer to on a Windows PC or a mobile phone.
